We are SNOW impressed with your snowmen and winter pictures... 15.01.21

Here are some of the snowmen submissions and snowy pictures that have been sent in.. come and take a look...

Adam

Adam is wrapped up warm and ready for winter with his winter scarf and wellies! Look at this amazing snowman... we love the carrot nose!






Adam has been busy getting creative! Have a look at this snowman picture! He has used lots of different resources to make his snowman... how creative!




Daisy
Wow! We love Daisy's snowman too! She is so resourceful... we love the sticks she has used to make the arms of the snowman. Well done Daisy!


Adiyan
Here is Adiyan enjoying the snow! Adiyan is wrapped up nice and warm and is ready for winter. 



Hashim
Hashim has also made a wonderful snowman! He has used twigs to make the arms and a carrot nose! What a great snowman Hashim.



Come and have a read of some of Hashim's winter writing! He has written the sentence, "the snowman can throw a snowball". Great job Hashim, what a lovely snowman drawing. We love the red hat!



This winter picture was made using oil pastels. Hashim has drawn some trees, the moon and some snow!

Some wonderful home learning... 14.01.21


We are very excited to share with you some of the FANTASTIC things you have been doing at home! A huge congratulations! We know just how hard you have all been working and you should all be very proud of yourselves! Thank you so much to everyone who has shared photos and videos with us.

We love to celebrate your work and achievements on our blog for everyone to see! If you would like to see pictures of your home learning, or any of the fantastic things you have been getting up to at home, please email year1@hovingham.org. Make sure you also give us permission to post these on the blog. 

Here are some of our favourites.. We may not be able to share every picture but your three teachers are all very proud of your work! A big well done to everyone who handed in a completed work-pack on Wednesday, what fantastic learning!


Adiyan

It's great to see children reading at home! Adiyan reads with such confidence and we really enjoyed receiving these videos! Well done Adiyan, keep up the good work, we are all very impressed.


Adiyan has also been busy getting creative and doing some drawing! Here is one of his pictures! We love the detail in this dinosaur drawing.





Noor

Wow, Noor has been busy at home! Last week, she learnt all about the number 7 and send in this wonderful photo. She has been doing a great job at keeping up with her home learning packs. Well done!

Adam

A huge well done to Adam who has been very busy at home! Here are some of Adam's photos... He has been practising his "Tricky Words" and has been enjoying Phonics with Geraldine the Giraffe! Keep sharing these photos, they are wonderful!

Usman

Wow Usman! What great handwriting and super spelling this week! It has been great to hear about how you have been practising your spellings and reading at home... as well as completing the additional blog activities...WELL DONE!




Maria
Congratulations to Maria!!! Maria has also been working so hard and practising her spellings! What lovely letter formation. It's great to see so much determination and perseverance. Well done Maria!


Hashim

We are so impressed by Hashim's creativity and artistic skills. Hashim's sentence reads "the zebra runs on the green grass". He has remembered his full stop, capital letters and included an adjective. The other sentences read "the lion has sharp teeth" and "the lion runs fast." We love these sentences Hashim, what great work!




Daisy
Daisy has sent in lots of photos of her home learning. In maths she has been busy drawing and recognising different shapes, she has retold and sequenced the story "Owl Babies" and drawn a picture of what she wants to be when she grows up - a Doctor! Fantastic Daisy!





Tauseef

Here are some pictures of Tauseef's work. We are so impressed with your handwriting. Well done for working really hard to complete the different phonics activities- what a great job.
Tauseef has been looking at different qualities to have in a friend.. Tauseef would like a friend that is nice, kind, cheerful, beautiful, great and happy. We think that sounds like a great friend!

Winter Snow Challenge! 14.01.21


Hi Year 1!

You may have noticed that it is SNOWING today. If you are outside make sure you keep yourselves warm...

We have decided to set you a challenge....
Who can build the BIGGEST snowman? Send your pictures to the year 1 email at year1@hovingham.org






If you don't have access to a garden (or snow), have a look around your house and see if you can design a wintery picture! You can use anything you like to make your pictures so get creative! Here is an example of a wintery picture...

PSHE The Selfish Crocodile 13.01.21


 

Have a listen to Mrs Rivers reading the story "The Selfish Crocoldile" by Faustin Charles.

This story is all abut a crocodile who was very selfish. However when the crocodile was shown kindness he changed his attitude and ended up feeling much happier when he was sharing with others.
