They are also sometimes known as Little Penguins or Fairy Penguins!

They are the only Penguins in the world with blue and white feathers!  This helps them stay hidden from predators - (animals that would LOVE to eat them as a snack!).

Conduct your own research and see if you can find out the answer to these questions!

You might want to use some of these resources to help with your research!

In our story, Blue Penguin has a dream about a white whale coming to rescue him from his loneliness.

We have dreams when we sleep or when we are awake and they are often about things we really wish could happen! When I was younger, I used to dream about being an astronaut and living in space!

Close your eyes and think about something you often dream about- remember to dream big! Draw your dream in a dream jar and write some sentences about your dream. Have a look at my dream jar below.

PSHE 01.02.21

This week it is children's mental health week. We learn a lot about how we keep ourselves fit and healthy by making sure we eat a healthy, balanced diet and exercise regularly but it is also important that we keep our minds healthy and happy too! This week, we will be posting an activity each day to encourage you to spend some time on keeping your mind healthy.

Today, we would like you to go outside and close your eyes. What different sounds can you hear?

Literacy 01.02.21

When the little boy and the penguin were rowing to the South Pole, the little boy told the penguin stories. Imagine you have to tell someone a story. What story would you tell?

It might be a story about something that has happened to you, a story you already know or have read or it might be your very own story that you have made up! Tell your story to somebody in your house.

If you are up for a challenge you could even create a story map for your story or try and write it in your book!

Don't forget to send pictures of videos to your teachers at year1@hovingham.org
